KE Polarizer
Vikuiti KE dichroic polarizers are intrinsic, durable, absorptive polarizers that remain optically and mechanically stable even when exposed to elevated temperatures and humidity for extended time periods. This stability is vitally important to maintaining high quality images from both front and rear projection systems while other polarizers degrade over time when exposed to harsh design conditions. Unique 3M technology enables high projection brightness and contrast while simplifying the light engine design and extending high quality performance lifetime from the projection display.
Traditional absorptive polarizers use either iodine or an organic dye oriented in a substrate such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film commonly used as base polarizing material. Over time, both the iodine and dye become damaged by bleaching thus leading to reduced system performance to the point where the polarizers or light engines require replacement.
KE polarizer attributes result from a manufacturing process where the dichromophoric properties are formed by polyvinylene becoming an integral part of the base PVA film yielding a high performing, non-fading, robust optical component.
