1910-1919
The Good Times Begin
 3MTM Three-M-iteTM Abrasive Cloth became 3M’s first exclusive product, 12 long years after 3M’s founding in 1902. Thanks to Three-M-ite cloth and a boost in business from World War I, 3M finally posted substantial profits and declared its first dividend of 6 cents per share in the last quarter of 1916. The dividend totaled $13,497 on 224,596 shares outstanding.
