- 3M ESPE once again ranked no. 1 as Technical Innovator in the 2010 annual Dental Industry Review's Innovation Index. This is the sixth year that 3M ESPE has topped this category.
- 3M ranked no. 3 in the 2010 annual Booz & Company Global Innovation Study, which measures innovation based on investments in research and development. Rankings are determined not by the amount spent on R&D, but on how it is spent. 3M came out ahead of companies that dwarf its R&D spending, such as GE, Toyota, Microsoft and IBM.
- 3M ranked no. 44 in Industry Week's U.S. 500 Rankings.
- 3M ranked no. 2 in the "general industrials" category and no. 22 overall in Newsweek's Green Rankings of the 500 largest publicly traded U.S. companies (up from no. 40 last year).
- For the first time, 3M joined Interbrand's list of 100 Best Global Brands, coming in at no. 90.
- 3M tied at no. 43 with McGraw Hill in NetProspex's ranking of the Top 50 Most Social Firms. The ranking is based on social network usage of employees.
- 3M ranked no. 1 on the Top 100 Companies list published by the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The list ranks Minnesota's largest publicly held companies by market value.
- 3M ranked fourth among the best-regarded large U.S. companies according to a Harris Interactive survey. The survey asked 29,000 consumers about the reputations of 60 visible corporations.
- 3M ranked 106th in the Fortune 500 annual ranking of America's largest corporations.
- 3M ranked 32nd in Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 2010 list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens.
- 3M ranked 37th in the "Medical and Other Precision Equipment" category of Fortune Magazine's list of the World's Most Admired Companies.
- 3M ranked 15th in Barron's list of the "World's Most Respected Companies." 3M ranked 13th in 2009.
- 3M ranked 3rd in the list of "Top 20 Best Companies for Leadership." The list is based on an annual study conducted by Hay Group, a global management consulting firm, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek.com. The Top 20 companies continued to make leadership development a priority over the past year, in spite of the economy.

- 3M™ Cubitron™ II Abrasive received the acclaimed R&D 100 Award as one of the 100 most technologically significant new products of the year according to R&D Magazine. The product also received the 2010 R&D 100 Editor's Choice Award.
- 3M received one of the first-ever Gigaton Awards recognizing the company's leadership in energy efficiency and sustainability. The Carbon War Room, a nonprofit organization, developed and sponsored the Gigaton and presented the awards during the 2010 World Climate Summit. 3M received the Best in Class award, which recognizes an overall leader of the awardees. 3M will pass on its award to next year's leader at the 2011 World Climate Summit.
- The Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) continues to recognize 3M as a sustainability leader by including the company in its 2010-2011 global sustainability index.
- 3M China Co. Ltd. was awarded the "Low Carbon Promoter of a Green Global Economy" certificate for 3M™ Aluminum Conductor Composite Reinforced by the International Energy Conservation Environmental Protection Association (IEEPA).
- 3M™ Cubitron™ II Abrasives were named a TEKNE Award (Advanced Manufacturing) winner by the Minnesota High Tech Association.
- 3M received two Gold Awards at The Edison Best New Products Award gala. The Gold award is the top honor given for product excellence in innovation, creativity and ingenuity. The two awards were given to 3M™ Pocket Projector MPro150 in the technology category and 3M™ Littmann® Electronic Stethoscope Model 3200 with Zargis Cardioscan™ Software in the electronics and computers category.
- Scotchgard Stone Floor Protector won the 2010 Most Innovative Products (MIP) Award at the World of Concrete Show.
- For the sixth consecutive year, 3M received the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy for its comprehensive worldwide energy conservation efforts. 3M was named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year in 2004 and was recognized again in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 with ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award.
- 3M was recognized with a Gold Class distinction in the SAM Sustainability Yearbook 2010. The yearbook is a corporate sustainability assessment published by SAM and PricewaterCoopers. To qualify for the SAM Gold Class, the SAM Sector Leader must achieve a minimum total score of 75%. Peer group companies whose total score is within 5% of the SAM Sector Leader are also awarded the SAM Gold Class. 3M's score was 81% -- within 1% of the Sector Leader, Siemens.

- 3M Singapore’s Woodlands Plant received a “Green Mark for Buildings” Gold Award from Singapore’s Building Construction Authority for its commitment to energy efficiency. Energy-saving measures at the 3M plant include use of 3M HVAC filters to reduce power consumption at the air handling unit and use of 3M solar films to reduce heat load into the building.
