Using a canister that is compatible with the other components in a metered-dose inhaler is extremely important for technical success. Understanding all aspects, including valve-to-can seal, actuator design, dimensional requirements, material of construction and the need for internal coating, is critical. 3M Drug Delivery Systems has the expertise needed to customize a canister that will meet your needs or to help you choose from our extensive line.

We provide a complete range of canisters in high grade and deep-drawn aluminum. Our canisters may be used with gasket or o-ring sealed valves and come in a comprehensive range of sizes (5-22ml), including the sleeved canister which is ideal for sample pack sizes, coated or uncoated.

Coated Canisters
The use of hydrofluoroalkane (HFA) propellants in MDIs has created the need for coated canisters with some MDI formulations to help improve chemical and physical stability .

Sleeved Canisters
Sleeved canisters provide an opportunity for low dosage products and sampling while maintaining a consistent look and feel across a product family.

Deep-Drawn Aluminum
Essentially inert, high-grade, deep-drawn aluminum is an excellent choice for many formulations.
