Active Transdermal Systems
Microstructured Transdermal System (MTS) is a state-of-the-art microneedle system for transcutaneous drug delivery that has potential for providing a drug delivery solution for a wide variety of molecules, including vaccines, proteins and peptides. MTS provides targeted delivery to the dermal/epidermal layers of the skin. Further, MTS has the potential to enhance the efficacy of vaccines while improving the overall delivery efficiency for vaccines, proteins, or peptides. 3M's internal device design team can adapt MTS to meet your application requirements, creating a key advantage for your development program. Finally, MTS is an easy-to-use system with the potential to improve health care providers' vaccine regimen.
Passive Transdermal Systems
Technology is integrated within formulation development, analytical, materials and operations groups to develop and optimize the transdermal system design. A formal New Product Introduction (NPI) process utilizing Six Sigma tools allows 3M to bring systems to market in a timely, and cost effective, manner. Sophisticated vertical integration of resources may increase technical and commercial success.
Product Development Expertise for Your Transdermal System: The Formulation Development and Analytical groups work closely to plan and execute the numerous facets of system development activities. The Materials and Components group participates in selection with your team, and if needed, development of component materials such as backings and liners.
Dedicated Alliance Management: As the final formulation selection is nearing completion, the Operations group works with you to direct the scale-up of your product to commercial manufacture. This group focuses on ensuring the development of a well understood, reproducible, manufacturing process for your transdermal system. For long-term product maintenance, the Marketed Product Support group provides technical support throughout the life of your product. In addition, Six Sigma methodology is utilized to help ensure consistency of product performance throughout the product life-cycle.
