Backings - The outermost layout of the patch which protects the formulation during the wear period.
Liners - The release liner protects the skin-contacting adhesive during storage and is removed prior to patch application.
Membranes - The membrane controls the rate of diffusion of the drug out of the patch and to the skin.
Tapes - The adhesive coated tapes are protective coverings that provide good initial adhesion and excellent extended wear for transdermal systems.
