Leaders Inspiring Leaders:
Working Together to Advance Sterilization Practice
2008 Sterilization Leadership Conference overview:
On July 16 - 18, 2008, over sixty leaders in sterilization and infection control from throughout the US and Canada converged at the 3M Innovation Center in St. Paul, MN as part of a two-day symposium hosted by 3M Health Care, Belimed, Kimberly-Clark and Materials Management Microsystems.
The event was kicked off by a keynote speech from Victoria Nahum, Co-founder of the Safe Care Campaign who inspired the leaders to step up to the plate to reduce the incidence of healthcare acquired infections...and continued on a high note through two days of seminars and group discussions. This collection of recognized leaders shared their expertise on various hot topics all focused on advancing sterilization practice.
Throughout the discussion, it was clear: sterilization leaders have a real opportunity to improve patient care through strong collaboration with the OR and Infection Control.
The Purpose of the Event:
This event was a collaborative effort between four companies and sterilization professionals to examine current sterilization issues, and explore any and all opportunities to advance sterilization practice.
Why these four companies?
The co-sponsors are weaved together with several common threads: a strong commitment to education, cutting-edge sterilization technologies, and, most importantly: dedication to helping sterilization leaders improve patient care.
Why these participants?
Attendees were identified as leaders within the industry. They have either led local or regional APIC or IAHCSMM/ASHCSP chapters, have demonstrated strong sterilization expertise, or are recognized educators.
Of course, we wish all sterilization leaders could have attended. The good news is there will be opportunities for participation in future sessions. If you're interested in future leadership conferences, please use the "contact us" feature on this webpage.
