Morrison served as vice chairman of PepsiCo from 2001 to February 2003. From 1997 until the 2001 merger with PepsiCo, Morrison was chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Quaker Oats Co. From June 30, 2005 to December 6, 2005, Morrison served as interim chairman of the board and chief executive officer of 3M. Morrison is on the boards of the following public companies in addition to 3M: AON Corp. and Illinois Tool Works Inc.
