01.22.03 - New Semi-Free-Flow Modified PTFE from Dyneon Combines Best of Performance Properties and Processability
Oakdale, Minn. – (January 22, 2003) – Dyneon™ TFM™ X 1630 PTFE, a new semi-free-flowing modified PTFE for compression molding, combines the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of Dyneon™ TFM™ PTFE with improved processability, as compared to standard-flow PTFE.
TFM X 1630 PTFE is engineered with an average particle size of 200 microns and a bulk density of 840 g/l. It is ideal for molding processes that require lower pressures and easier mold filling and for applications that demand smooth, high-quality surfaces and excellent dimensional stability.
Because of these benefits, Dyneon™ TFM™ X 1630 PTFE can be used in a variety of challenging molding and process applications – particularly thin-walled isostatic moldings and large sheets and billets. The results are high quality end products like valve linings, valve seats, internal pump components, chemical distribution manifolds, gaskets, lined pipe, sheet linings for vessels and other chemical processing equipment.
Dyneon™ TFM™ PTFE has the same excellent temperature and chemical resistance as unmodified PTFE; however, it does offer some significant performance advantages. For example, its reduced cold flow improves dimensional stability and its low permeation makes it an excellent choice for protection against corrosion. Equally as important is the weldability that provides equipment manufacturers increased design flexibility.
