3M Community Involvement
Approximately 40 percent of 3M employees participate in our robust Volunteer Program. We provide a network of 25 affiliated organizations (not to mention a working partnership with the United Way). So just about everyone finds somewhere to pitch in. We encourage volunteering through matching programs (3M Volunteer Match donates funds to organizations where 3M employees or retirees volunteer) and the Community Volunteer Award (which recognizes volunteers who make exceptional contributions.) Since 1987, more than 400 3M volunteers across the country have received recognition.
Community giving is paramount at 3M. We gift donations to countless organizations in K-12, higher education, health & human services (Red Cross), arts and culture, and the environment. In addition, 3M operates subsidiaries in countries across the globe to administer programs that reflect local culture and needs.
