If a bandage is not easily releasing avoid pulling on bandage, instead work a little baby oil or cooking oil into the adhesive to help the bandage release from the skin. Or use ice (covered with a paper towel) for 5 minutes or less. Ice will make the adhesive brittle, which may cause it to release

Do Nexcare™ Products contain natural rubber latex?

Many of the bandage products, such as Nexcare™ Active™ Sport Extra Cushion & Stick, Brights Extra Cushion & Stick, Comfort Fabric Soft & Conforming, Heavy Duty Flexible Fabric, and Heavy Duty Clear & Tough bandages are latex free. The packaging or wrapper on Nexcare™ Waterproof Clear Protection and Tattoo™ Waterproof bandages contains natural rubber latex, which may cause allergic reactions. Most of the first aid tapes and wound closures, such as Tegaderm™ Transparent Dressings are also latex free.

When heating the Nexcare™ Reusable Cold/Hot Pack, do I remove the outer bag?

Remove the cloth cover, and heat the Nexcare Reusable Cold/Hot Pack in either boiling water or a microwave oven. Carefully check the pack for leaks, and insert it in the cover or wrap it in cloth. Check for desired temperature by carefully placing the covered pack against your forearm. If it's too hot, let it cool. When comfortable, apply the pack to the desired area.

How do I use the Nexcare™ Instant & Reusable Cold Pack?

INSTANT FIRST USE:

  1. Squeeze the blue liquid firmly to pop the seam at the red band. Shake thoroughly.
  2. Apply the non-insulated side of the cold pack to the injury. For best results, shake the pack occasionally.
  3. Remove the pack if it becomes uncomfortable. Reapply after a few moments, if comfortable. However, do not apply for longer than 20 minutes.
  4. Remove the cold pack after 20 minutes. Leave the injured area uncovered for 20 minutes before applying another cold pack. Skin damage, including frostbite, can occur with applications longer than 20 minutes.

TO MAKE REUSABLE:

  1. Squeeze the white gel firmly to pop the seam at the purple band. Pull the sides of the pack to completely open the seam. Knead until it's completely mixed.
  2. Store in the freezer until needed.

What can I do to help alleviate skin irritation from dressing changes?

To help minimize skin irritation, use a skin protectant such as Nexcare™ Skin Protectant Wipes or the Skin Protectant Swab available in the after-surgery care kits. This will apply a thin protective coating over your skin, around the wound, and provide a waterproof barrier from fluids, adhesives, and friction.

If your skin has a tendency to react to adhesive products, try our No Sting Liquid Bandage Spray or Drops. Both create a clear, waterproof shield for minor cuts and scrapes. We also offer Skin Protectant Wipes, which help reduce irritation from multiple dressing changes.
