MUTCD Sets Minimum Reflectivity Standards (FHWA website) - Effective January 22, 2008, federally-mandated minimum sign reflectivity standards require agencies to replace non-compliant signs within seven to ten years. Within four years, agencies must also implement an ongoing assessment or management method that will maintain traffic sign retroreflectivity at or above the established minimum levels.
