Locating and Marking Training

This two day training class is open to all 3M personnel, rep firms, distributors and customers. There is no charge for attendance at the class, but participants are responsible for their own travel expenses.

  • Classroom and Field Training – 3M Austin Training Facility (Bldg. 1) – Research Blvd
    • Basic Theory – Understanding the concept of a good locate
    • Dynatel 2250M/2273M/2220M Transmitter set-up / hook ups / functions
    • Direct Connect, Dyna-Coupler and Induction Methods
    • Dynatel 2250M/2273M/2220M Receiver set-up / functions
    • Hands-on field locating using Direct Connect, Dyna-Coupler and Induction Methods
    • Basic Theory - Sheath Faults / Earth Return Faults
    • Hands-on Fault Locating
    • Sonde (Active Duct Probe) Locating
Day 2 – Instructor: Gary Morris
8:30am – 3:30pm

    • Basic Theory & Operation - Electronic Markers; iD Markers and Passive Markers
    • Dynatel 1420-iD Marker Locator set-up / functions
    • iD Marker Templates – PC Tools installation and use

    • GPS and GIS Overview
