All 3M™ Scotchshield™ Film backsheets have full component recognition by Underwriters Laboratory as Photovoltaic Polymeric Materials. As part of the Component Recognition Program, UL requires that backsheets meet a minimum requirement to ensure compliance of the PV Module with UL1703 Flat Plate Modules and Panels.
Specifically, all components exceed the requirements for Relative Thermal Index (the THV fluoropolymer has an RTI value of 150°C), so 3M Scotchshield Film backsheets comply fully with the RTI requirements of UL1703. 3M Scotchshield Films also meet the necessary requirements for radiant panel testing and additional requirements outlined in IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 that require the partial discharge test (testing completed by TÜV). In addition, 3M is an active participant in the development of new standards.
All information regarding certification of 3M Scotchshield Film backsheets can be found in the online Certifications Directory for 3M Products for Photovoltaic Applications - file QIHE2.E316895.
