Clinical Condition:
Critical tubes and devices are those for which there is a risk of significant impact to patient if tubing or device does not perform as expected. The more critical the tubing/dressing, the higher the adhesion required. Heavy tubings and immobilization splinting may require higher adhesion. Strength of adhesion and backing may be more important than gentleness. Some tapes are less gentle (e.g.. cloth adhesive tape) but are used for:
- High initial adhesion
- High long-term adhesion
- High strength of backing
3M™ Medipore™ and Medipore™ H Soft Cloth Surgical Tapes have high adhesion, are gentler and may be used for certain critical tube applications.
