2009 Retirement Program Changes
3M is proud to provide a comprehensive and valuable retirement program, which includes the 3M Retiree Medical Plan. Beginning January 1, 2009, you will have expanded choices for your retiree medical coverage.
There is no immediate action required, and no need to call the 3M FIRST Line Center.
What is Changing
While the new options will not take effect until 2009, we wanted to share a broad overview with you at the earliest possible date.
Be sure to note:
- You may find a more cost-effective option. The new medical coverage options (described in the Brochure) may offer you and your eligible dependents a more cost-effective alternative to what you have today.
- Your current coverage remains. It is not going away, and there is no need to change for 2009 — unless you want to. If you take no action, your current coverage will continue in 2009, at 2009 rates.
- No immediate action is required. The new options take effect January 1, 2009, and you will receive more details in a future issue of 3M Retiree Connections.
- Your Pension Plan benefit remains unchanged. There will be no pension increase in 2008 for retirees receiving benefits from U.S. Pension Plans.
