Unplug the VGA-Audio cable from the projector and a white image with the 3M logo will display. If start up screen does not appear‚ please contact us and we will assist you.
Plug the VGA – Audio cable into the projector and the icon in the upper-left corner of the image will change from a “waiting on cable” to the “VGA-Audio cable” icon.
The projector is making a noise.
The projector has a small fan for cooling the LED light source. The fan turns on and off automatically based on the projector’s internal temperature. The fan will turn on more often in warm environments or at high altitudes.
The speakers make noise when the component AV cable is not correctly connected to the video device. There are two red connectors on the component AV cable. The fonts as viewed from the 3M Pocket Projector for PowerPoint‚ Word‚ or Excel files‚ do not look the same as on my computer.
The Pocket Projector has limited font support. Then following fonts are supported: Courier‚ Times New Roman‚ Helvetica‚ and Symbols.
When I open a PowerPoint, Word, or Excel file, the 3M Pocket Projector displays an out of memory message.
As a comparison, your computer has 1 or more GB of RAM (or memory) available versus 10MB of memory available in the Pocket Projector. This gives your computer the ability to display larger files that can exceed the maximum capacity of what the Pocket Projector can display. Additionally, PowerPoint files compress the images and other objects contained inside the file. When a PowerPoint file is uncompressed, it will often double or triple in size which requires more memory to display. Remember, even though the 3M Pocket Projector displays an “Out of Memory” message; it will still open the file and display some of the file contents.
Compare what you see on the 3M Pocket Projector and your computer. Look for missing pictures or objects. If a picture is missing, it is too large. Here are some steps you can try in Microsoft PowerPoint to reduce the file size:
Save As and Compress Pictures
Open the ppt with PowerPoint.
Select Save As from the File Menu.
Select Compress Pictures from the Tools dropdown menu (in the upper right hand corner of the Save As dialog box.)
The Compress Picture dialog box will appear.
Select Web/Screen in the Change Resolution section and click OK and then Click Apply.
Change the name in the name box and Click Save.
Find missing the pictures and Cut picture and then Paste Special as JPEG.
Open the ppt file with the MP180 and your computer.
Go through the slide show and find the missing content.
When you find a missing picture on the Pocket Projector, Double-Click the picture in PowerPoint and select the Size tab. If scale is less than 100%, the pictures resolution needs to be reduced.
Select the picture, and select Cut from the Edit menu.
Select Paste Special from the Edit Menu and Paste Special dialog box will appear.
Select Picture (JPEG) from the list and click OK.
Now save the file and transfer the file to the Pocket Projector. This picture should appear when displayed on the Pocket Projector. Also notice the file size decrease.
When I open my PowerPoint file, the 3M Pocket Projector does not display some of the pictures in the file.
The 3M Pocket Projector supports jpg, bmp, and png pictures within ppt files. All other pictures will not display. For example Tiff pictures that are embedded in a ppt will not display. Additionally, if the filename has unsupported characters (like a comma), the Pocket Projector will not display some the image in the slideshow.
The Pocket Projector supports one set of Slide Master (one Slide Master and one Title Master) in a PowerPoint slide show. Delete the extra Slide Master by 1. Open the File in PowerPoint; 2. Click Slide Master from the Master in the View menu; 3. Delete all but one Slide and Title Masters; and 4. Now save the file as a new file name.
The Pocket Projector does not support special characters in file names like commas. File names with only numbers and letters work best.
When I open a pdf file, the document displays in black and white and not in color.
The Pocket Projector supports up to PDF 1.4 (Acrobat 5.0). Although the Pocket Projector will display PDF higher than 1.4, some features may not appear. To check the version of your pdf file, click Properties from the File menu in Adobe Acrobat. Select the Description tab. In the Advance section, look for PDF Version.
Save or Print the original file as a PDF 1.4 file.
When I try to view a video file, the message "File Format Not Supported" displays.
If the 3M Pocket Projector displays this message, this file extension is not supported (for example: *.wmv, *.vco, etc).
Use a video converter software and convert the video file format to one that the 3M Pocket Projector supports.
