Application Guide
Listed below are key applications for HGS3000 glass bubbles. Documents specific to the application are listed to the right.
Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Cements
Low-density cement slurries made with 3M™ Glass Bubbles HGS3000 have the potential to improve performance compared to alternative solutions like aeration or water dilution at a more economical price. 3M glass bubbles provide:
  • High compressive strength
  • Minimal wait on cement (WOC)
  • Increased yield per sack of cement
What's more, because HGS3000 glass bubbles are incompressible, multiple staging - commonly used in wells which require a long column of cement - can be avoided in many instances.

Density Reducing Agents for Drilling Fluids
Low-density drilling fluids made with HGS3000 glass bubbles provide an economical alternative to aerated drilling fluids. Rated to 3000 psi, HGS3000 glass bubbles are incompressible, ensuring constant liquid density throughout the borehole and allowing for measurement while drilling (MWD) transmission. What's more, these glass bubbles process easily on-site and require no expensive aeration equipment.

Like all 3M glass bubbles, HGS3000 glass bubbles are virtually insoluble in water or oil and are compatible with surface cleaning and other down-hole equipment.
