Plans for the 3M Nevada plant were announced in December of 1966 and finalized in November of 1968.
Construction began in March of 1970 on the original 262,000 sq. ft. facility.
Plant operation began in August of 1971.
The first plant “open house” was held in October of 1972 with Governor Warren Hearnes conducting the ribbon cutting ceremony. 2,300 people toured the plant.

To meet expanding market needs, the 3M Nevada plant has undergone a number of
expansions over the years.

100,000 sq. ft. addition in 1990-1992
48,700 sq. ft. addition in 1995-1996
55,900 sq. ft. addition in 1996-1998
54,200 sq. ft. addition in 1998-1999
The plant is currently a 769,000 sq. ft. facility.
