• The 3M™ Mobile Projector (the “3M product”) is warranted to be free from defects in material or manufacture for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase.
• All other accessories included with the 3M product are warranted to be free from defects in material or manufacture for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase.
• Optional product accessories that are not sold as part of the 3M product are subject to individual warranties.

THE WARRANTIES STATED ABOVE ARE EXCLUSIVE AND ARE MADE IN PLACE OF ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES‚ EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS‚ INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE‚ OR ANY INDUSTRY PRACTICE OR CUSTOM OR TRADE USAGE.

In the event the 3M product fails to conform to the above stated warranties within the applicable warranty period‚ your exclusive remedy shall be‚ at 3M’s option‚ to replace or repair the 3M product or to refund the purchase price of the 3M product. All replaced parts or products become property of 3M. If the product is repaired‚ 3M will repair the defective part(s) with a new or used part(s). If the 3M product is replaced‚ 3M will replace the 3M product with the same or equivalent model and with a new or refurbished 3M product. In the case of an approved warranty claim‚ the replacement 3M product will carry only the remaining term of the original 3M product’s warranty period as stated above. For warranty service‚ you must provide proof of the date of the original purchase else the manufacturing code date will be used to establish the start date of the warranty. The following are exclusions to the above listed warranty:

1. This warranty does not cover 3M product that is modified or damaged through improper storage‚ misuse‚ abuse‚ accident‚ vandalism‚ improper installation‚ neglect‚ improper shipping‚ damage caused by acts of war‚ disasters such as fire‚ flood‚ and lightning‚ improper electrical current‚ software problems‚ interaction with non-3M products‚ or service other than by an 3M Authorized Service Provider‚ neglect or mishandling by any person. Normal wear and tear is not covered under warranty.
2. 3M product is designed to operate in the typical indoor environment. This warranty does not cover 3M product used outside of the following circumstances:
   • 100V – 240V AC‚ 50/60 Hz
   • 10° – 30°C (50° – 86°F)
   • 10 – 80% RH (without condensation)
   • 0 – 1829 m (0 – 6000 feet) above sea leve
3. The air intake and exhaust vent must be clear of obstructions. Inadequate air ventilation will cause the 3M product to malfunction or will cause damage to the 3M product which will void the warranty.
4. This warranty does not cover any additional costs including‚ but not limited to‚ those associated with removal‚ cleaning or installation of the 3M product‚ adjustments‚ (mechanical or electronic) made to the 3M product.
5. This warranty covers only normal use of the product. 24-hour-per-day or other excessive continual use causes strain and is not considered normal use.
6. This warranty does not cover consumables (e.g.‚ batteries).
7. This warranty is not transferable.
8. 3M is not responsible for warranty service should the 3M label or logo or the rating label or serial number be removed unless otherwise stated in writing for the purposes of private labeling for partnership requirements.
9. This warranty does not cover postage‚ insurance‚ or shipping costs incurred in presenting your 3M product for warranty service. Said costs are the customer’s responsibility. If a claimed defect cannot be identified or reproduced in service‚ the customer may be held responsible for cost incurred. Should your warranty upgrade include a “change out” service and the claimed defect cannot be identified or reproduced by the technician‚ the customer will be responsible for call out costs.

EXCEPT AS SPECIFICALLY STATED IN THE APPLICABLE 3M PRODUCT MANUAL‚ 3M SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT‚ INCIDENTAL‚ SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING‚ BUT NOT LIMITED TO‚ LOSS OF PROFITS‚ REVENUE OR BUSINESS) RESULTING FROM‚ OR IN ANY WAY RELATED TO PERFORMANCE‚ USE OR INABILITY TO USE ANY OF THE 3M PRODUCT. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory upon which damages are sought.

For warranty support‚ please call or write your local 3M office or a 3M Authorized Service Provider to obtain an RMA # (Return Material Authorization number) before returning the product. What 3M Will Do To Correct Problems:

• If your 3M product requires service‚ 3M will ask you to bring or send the 3M product‚ securely packaged in its original container or equivalent‚ along with proof of the date of original purchase‚ to your 3M Service Dealer or 3M Service Center.
• 3M will‚ at its option‚ repair or replace the defective unit without charge for parts or labor. Return of the 3M product will be at 3M’s expense.
• When warranty service involves the exchange of the 3M product or of a part‚ the item replaced becomes 3M property.
• The exchanged 3M product or part may be new or previously refurbished to the 3M standard of quality‚ and at 3M’s option‚ the replacement may be another model of like kind and quality.
• 3M’s liability for replacement of the warranted 3M product or part will not exceed the original retail selling price of the 3M product. Exchange or replacement products or parts assume the remaining warranty period of the product covered by this limited warranty.

Q: How long does it take to charge the battery?
A: It takes about three hours to fully charge the battery when the projector is off and up to six hours when the projector is being used.

Q: How long will the battery last once charged?
A: When the battery is brand new and fully charged, the battery will last about 2 hours.

Q: What happens if I overcharge the battery?
A: There are protection circuits in the projector and the battery that prevent over charging.

Q: If my battery is dead‚ can I use the power adapter to power the projector?
A: You can use the power adapter with the projector.

Q: Are there any replacement parts in the projector?
A: The battery is the only replaceable part in the projector.

Q: Can I replace the lamp?
A: NO. The light source is a LED and cannot be replaced.

Q: Can I connect my gaming system to the 3M Mobile Projector?
A: If the gaming system has a composite video‚ component video or VGA output‚ it can be connected to the 3M Mobile Projector.

Q: What computer resolutions/refresh rates does my Mobile Projector support?
A: 3M MP225 projectors support:

Q: What is the native resolution?
A: SVGA (800x600)

Q: What is the maximum resolution?
A: WXGA (1280 × 768 or 1280 × 960)

Q: Does the 3M Mobile Projector have a menu system?
There is no menu system but there is a status icon and led indicator.

Q: Can the Mobile Projector project at a 16:9 aspect?
A: The 3M Mobile Projector always projects at a default 4:3 aspect ratio. If you wish to have 16:9 video‚ select a video that is letter boxed. This is a 16:9 movie that has black bars on the top and bottom of the image.

Q: What microSD card size does the 3M Mobile Projector support?
A: The 3M Mobile Projector supports up to a 16 GB microSD card.

Q: How do I update the software (firmware) on the Mobile Projector?
A: Go to the How To Documents section and follow the directions for updating software.

Q: How do I clean the projector lens?
A: A cotton swab is a good tool for cleaning the lens. When cleaning the lens‚ hold the lens in place using the focus knob and then gently remove the dust and dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals like acetone because it will damage the lens and other plastic parts.

Q: Can I use this projector in other countries?
A: Yes‚ the power supply has interchangeable outlet adapters and can fit most outlets. Before you plug the power adapter into a wall outlet make sure the outlet voltage is compatible with the voltage rating marked on the power adapter label.

Q: Is there a small stand or tripod option available for the 3M Mobile Projector?
A: The projector comes with a desktop tripod. The projector does have a standard 20-1/4” tripod mounting point in the event you want to mount the projector via a camera tripod.

Q: Can I connect my Apple Computer to the 3M Mobile Projector?
A: Yes‚ connect your Apple computer using the VGA cable and set the Mac resolution to VGA‚ SVGA or XGA. Apple computers require the Apple VGA adapter. For additional information‚ check the “How to Section” of this website.

Connecting the iPod or iPhone to a 3M Mobile Projector

1. Connect the video cable to the projector’s VGA-AV input.
2. Connect the other end of the video cable to your Apple Device.

Watching a Video or Photo Slideshow
On your Apple® Device‚ start a video or photo slideshow. Some Apple Devices require you to turn on "TV out" in Videos>Settings before watching a video or slideshow on the projector.

Note: The iPad 2 is able to output a mirror image of what is displayed on its screen. The 3M Computer Cable (Consumer UPC: 05112563471) and the Apple® VGA Adapter are necessary to project the mirror image using the 3M projector. The 3M Computer Cable is sold separately by 3M and the Apple VGA Adapter is sold separately by Apple‚ Inc.

• If you see the 3M logo screen‚ your device is not sending video to the 3M projector. Refer to the User Guide for your Apple device and look for “Watching a Video”‚ “Slideshows” and “TV out.”
• If the iPod is already playing a video‚ it will not play on the projector until you stop the video and start it again.

Connecting to a Computer running Microsoft Windows

What you need:

1. Computer with VGA port
   Note: Some computers (like some notebook computers) will require a VGA adapter.
2. 3M Mobile Projector VGA cable
3. 3M Mobile Projector

Connecting the computer to the 3M Mobile Projector

1. Turn on both the projector and the computer.
2. Connect the VGA cable to the VGA/AV port on the projector.
3. Connect the VGA cable to the VGA port on the computer.
4. The computer should automatically detect the projector and output your desktop image.

Notes about the 3M Mobile Projector:

1. When you connect the VGA cable to the projector‚ the projector will detect the cable and display the VGA icon ().
2. When the computer outputs a VGA signal‚ the projector will detect‚ display the VGA icon and the input resolution and display the image.

• If the projector does not detect an input signal‚ press FN button and monitor button at the same time to toggle through the computer’s different display modes ( LCD‚ Monitor‚ or Both). The monitor button is different on every computer. Most monitor buttons have one of the following on it: LCD/CRT‚ icon‚ etc.
• If the input resolution is not one of the following resolutions: VGA‚ SVGA‚ XGA‚ or WXGA (1280 × 768)‚ the projector will display the question icon ().
• If the projector still does not display the computer‚ try the following “How To” document for your video adapter on the site.
• To determine the video adapter application installed on your computer running Microsoft‚ follow these steps: 1. Right Click the desktop and a context menu will appear‚ 2. select “Properties” from the menu and the “Display Properties” will appear‚ 3. select the settings tab and then click the Advanced button and “Plug and Play Monitor…” dialog box will appear‚ and 4. click the Adapter tab and look at the Adapter Type. You should see the manufacture name and model of your video adapter like Intel‚ NVIDIA‚ or ATI. You may also see tab that takes you to the video adapter setup software.

Connecting to a computer running Mac OS 10

You will need the following:

1. Apple Computer.
2. Apple VGA adapter.
3. 3M Mobile Projector.
4. 3M Mobile Projector VGA cable.

Connecting the computer and projector

1. Attach the VGA adapter to the Apple Computer.
2. Attach the 3M cable to the projector.
3. Connect the cable from the Apple Computer to the cable from the 3M Mobile Projector.
4. Turn on both the projector and the computer.

Displaying an image on the 3m Mobile Projector

1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences.
2. Choose Displays.
3. Click Detect Displays.
4. Click Gather Windows.
5. Select the projector display pane.
6. Confirm the Resolution setting is 800 × 600‚ 1024 × 768‚ or 1280 × 768.
7. Confirm the Refresh Rate is 60 Hertz.

Note: For best results‚ set the computer resolution to SVGA (800 × 600).

Configuring an Intel Graphics Media software for the 3M Mobile Projector

When the Intel video card in your computer does not automatically recognize the 3M Mobile Projector‚ it may not output an image to the projector. In the following instruction you will manual setup the video card for the Pocket Project by opening Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver‚ clone the display (that is display the same thing on both the laptop screen and the projector)‚ set the resolution to 800 × 600 and the refresh rate to 60 Hz.

1. Open Intel Graphics Media software by right clicking the desktop and click Graphic Properties from the context menu. (A context menu is a menu that pops up when you right click an icon or the desktop and shows you list function based on what you clicked.)
2. Intel Graphics Media software will appear.
   
3. In the Display Devices tab‚ select the Intel® Dual Display Clone radio button and then press the Apply button.
   
4. In the Display Setting tab‚ select 800x600 from the resolution drop-down list and then press the Apply button.
   
5. While in the Display Settings tab‚ select the Monitor tab from the Notebook and Monitor tabs at the top of the window. Then select 60 Hz from the Refresh Rate drop down list. Finally‚ press the apply button.
   
6. You should now see the same image on your laptop screen and the 3M Mobile Projector.

Troubleshooting Tip
If the monitor tab does not appear at the top of the window‚ the computer’s video card does not detect the 3M Mobile Projector. The cable may be loose or the projector is turned off.

Configuring an nVidia video card on a computer running Windows for the 3M Mobile Projector

When the nVidia video card in your computer does not automatically recognize the 3M Mobile Projector‚ it may not output an image to the projector. In the following instruction you will open the nVidia Control Panel‚ clone the display (display the same thing on both the laptop screen and the projector) and set the resolution to 800 × 600 and the refresh rate to 60 Hz.

1. Open nVidia Control Panel by right clicking the desktop and then clicking nVidia Control Panel from the context menu. (A context menu is a menu that pops up when you right click an icon or the desktop and shows you list function based on what you clicked.)
   
2. nVidia Control Panel software will appear. Under the Display option click setup multiple displays.
   
3. In the Setup multiple devices tab‚ select “The same on both Displays (Clone)” as the nView Display mode and click apply.
   
4. Next select “Change Resolution” under the Display tab‚ select the Mpro Mobile Projector as the display you would like to change and Select 800 × 600 from the resolution drop-down list and 60Hz from the refresh rate‚ then press the Apply button.
   
5. You should now see the same image on your laptop screen and the 3M Mobile Projector.

The projector will not turn on.

• A full charged battery is not installed or the power adapter is not connected to the projector and a working wall outlet.
• Hold down the power button until the projector powers up.

The Status Indicator is flashing red when the power button is held down.

• The battery needs to be charged.

The image is not visible or is very dim.

• The 3M MP225 is a battery operated projector and requires controlled lighting conditions. The image may appear very dim in brightly lit rooms.
• Make sure the status indicator is green. This indicates that the projector is powered on and projecting an image.
• Project the image onto a flat‚ white surface.
• Decrease the light on the surface where the image is being projected.
• Decrease the size of the image.

The projector is displaying a question mark.

• The projector does not support the video or computer input signal. Switch to a video or computer signal that the projector supports. Take a look the how to section for connecting a computer and media player.

A computer is connected to the projector but the projector will not display the computer’s image.

• Unplug the VGA-Audio cable from the projector and a white image with the 3M logo will display. If start up screen does not appear‚ please contact us and we will assist you.
• Plug the VGA – Audio cable into the projector and the icon in the upper-left corner of the image will change from a “waiting on cable” to the “VGA-Audio cable” icon.

The projector is making a noise.

• The projector has a small fan for cooling the LED light source. The fan turns on and off automatically based on the projector’s internal temperature. The fan will turn on more often in warm environments or at high altitudes.
• The speakers make noise when the component AV cable is not correctly connected to the video device. There are two red connectors on the component AV cable. One is for the right audio channel and the other is for the Pr component video signal. If these connectors are switched‚ the projected image will appear green and an abnormal noise will come from the right speaker.

My video device is connected to the projector but the projector will not display the video.

• Unplug the AV cable from the projector and a white image with the 3M logo will display.
• Plug the AV cable into the projector and the icon in the upper-left corner of the image will change from a “waiting on cable” to the “VGA-Audio cable” icon.
• Make sure the video output or TV out is turned on or selected in the video device menu system.

Status Indicator lights.

	Status Light	Description/ Meaning
	Status Indicator Flashing Red	The projector can not turn on because the battery needs to be charged.
	Status Indicator Amber	The projector is off and charging the battery.
	Status Indicator Blank (Off)	Projector is turned off. If the power adapter is connected to the projector and the battery is installed‚ the battery is fully charged.
	Status Indicator Green	The projector is on.
	Status Indicator Flashing Green	The projector has overheated and needs to cool.

Icon	Description/ Meaning
	The projector is waiting for the A/V cable to be connected.
	The projector detects the audio/video cable.
	The projector detects an NTSC video input signal.
	The projector detects a PAL video input signal.
	The projector detects the component audio/video cable.
	The projector detects the video input signal and displays the video source’s resolution and refresh rate below the component icon.
	The projector detects the VGA-Audio cable.
	The projector detects computer input signal and displays the input resolution and refresh rate.
	The projector does not support the video signal.
	The projector is measuring and synchronizing to video input signal.

The fonts as viewed from the 3M Mobile Projector for PowerPoint‚ Word‚ or Excel files‚ do not look the same as on my computer.

• The Mobile Projector has limited font support. Then following fonts are supported: Courier‚ Times New Roman‚ Helvetica‚ and Symbols.
