Medina Life

Medina was founded in 1816 and incorporated as a village in 1835. The City of Medina enjoys a long and rich history that is evident in the restored Victorian architecture of its picturesque Public Square area. A visit to Medina’s historic Square attracts tourists and residents to its unique shops, fine restaurants and many special events.

The City of Medina is a booming community of 25,139 (2000 census). The residential growth in Medina skyrocketed during the 1990’s. During this time, there have been several residential developments and apartment/condominium units constructed to accommodate the rapid growth of the community.

Medina has an outstanding school system that ranks well in the Ohio Department of Education's Annual Report Card. The school district has six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school that underwent a major expansion. Within the City's boundaries, two excellent school systems offer academic and technology training that prepares young people for both college and the workforce: Buckeye Local Schools and the Medina County Career Center. Private school is also accessible.

Advanced education is readily available locally and from numerous colleges and universities in the surrounding area that offer a full compliment of certificate, undergraduate and graduate degrees.
