Chemical Indicators

3M offers a wide range of chemical indicators that provide information on sterilization conditions. These products comply with ISO and ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11140:2005: Sterilization of health care products - Chemical indicators.

In industrial sterilization processing, chemical indicators are often used in conjunction with parametric release processes to provide objective monitoring of sterilization conditions independent of the sterilizer controls.

• Class 1 Process Indicators provide immediate identification of processed goods and are available from 3M for ethylene oxide, moist heat, dry heat and vapor phase hydrogen peroxide.
• Class 2 Chemical Indicators are for Special Tests. 3M offers Bowie-Dick Type test products for use in vacuum assisted steam sterilizers as described in ISO and ANSI/AAMI/ISO 17665-1: 2006.
• Class 4 Multivariable Indicators for dry heat sterilization change from tan to black within 5 minutes at 170° C (340° F) during exposure to dry heat.
• Class 5 Chemical Integrating Indicators are designed to react to all critical variable of the sterilization process.
