Learn more about the 2009 H1N1 (Swine Flu) and 3M Rapid Detection Flu A+B Test. See 3M Rapid Detection Flu A+B Test Demo Video. Requiring three minutes or less of hands-on time, the 3M™ Rapid Detection Flu A+B Test rapidly delivers results that differentiate influenza A and influenza B viruses direct from specimen. With this rapid test, the objective identification of infected patients from nasopharyngeal swab, nasal wash or nasopharyngeal aspirate means the laboratory can have more confidence in their flu test results and clinicians can have more confidence in their flu A and flu B diagnoses. Additionally, the 3M™ Rapid Detection Reader provides the laboratory flexibility in time and test management by storing all flu test data. The Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) connectivity capability, bar code scanner and printer help reduce potential reporting errors by eliminating the task of manually recording and transferring patient flu test results. Internal quality controls (IQC) and external liquid quality controls (LQC) assure integrity of 3M flu test results. 3M Rapid Detection features RAMP® technology developed by Response Biomedical. RAMP technology enhances traditional lateral flow immunoassay technology by introducing a strip of known antibodies (called internal standard zones) that are impacted by the same conditions as the test antibodies. The ratio of a measurement of the two sets of antibodies effectively factors out the uncontrollable variability, thereby providing an improved result. Rapid detection of the flu virus combined with other infection control measures may help healthcare facilities improve patient care and help protect at-risk populations from this respiratory virus. For a rapid, clear assessment, the Rapid Detection influenza test combines trusted science with innovative technology to deliver fast, objective results while helping the laboratory manage workflow. {1} Clinical Evaluation of the 3M Rapid Detection Flu A+B Test, C.
