Bonding rubber have you bouncing off the walls? Your solution is here!

Ever tried to reattach a rubber gasket to a metal door frame, and it just won't stick? You're not alone. There are many different kinds of rubber on the market today-butyl, hypalon, natural rubber, neoprene, nitrile, and more-each with unique properties that may impact adhesive effectiveness. But when you're in the middle of facility maintenance, who has the time to research the type of rubber you're working with?

For bonding and sealing most rubbers and gaskets to themselves or to metal, wood, and many plastics, 3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Rubber & Gasket Adhesive 1300 delivers a high-strength bond that lasts and lasts.

3M™ Scotch-Grip™ Rubber & Gasket Adhesive 1300 is the perfect partner for tough tasks such as:

  • Bonding rubber matting on rollers for traction control
  • Attaching rubber flooring to concrete
  • Securing rubber step surfaces on metal stairs
  • Fastening protective rubber guards on equipment

Don't apply until clean and dry
But before you begin any rubber bonding project, make sure that the surface is clean and dry. Always clean both surfaces using a solvent* and light abrasion before applying the adhesive. Dried-on glue should be removed completely before making the repair, and even new rubber gaskets and parts should be cleaned.

Even when clean and dry, some types of rubber are especially difficult to bond. If you have tried to repair a rubber part several times but the glue simply will not hold, then seek professional advice. As the global industry leader in adhesive technology, we have adhesive specialists available by phone who can help you select an alternate adhesive for your specific application.

*When using solvents, extinguish all ignitions sources including pilot lights and follow the manufacturer's precautions and directions for use.
