History of 3M Knoxville
The construction of 3M Knoxville began in 1973. Production operations started in 1974 in a temporary facility on the south side of Knoxville and moved to the present site in 1975. The facility has expanded several times since 1975 with the last expansion occurring in 2007. Currently the plant occupies over a half a million sq. ft. of manufacturing and warehouse space.
3M Knoxville manufactures pressure sensitive tapes that are sold worldwide into the industrial, automotive, and construction markets. Knoxville is a high-tech, multidivisional facility serving five major divisions.
