3M™ Attest™ Biological Indicators and Test Packs for 250°F/121°C Gravity and 270°F/132°C Vacuum Assisted Steam Sterilizers

Biological indicators provide the best assurance of sterility by challenging the sterilizer with quantifiable, highly resistant spores. Biological indicators are used for load control monitoring which is the process by which a load is monitored and released based on the result of a biological indicator (BI) in a test pack.

3M™ Attest™ 1262 or 1262P Biological Indicators for steam

The self-contained BI for 250°F/121°C gravity 270°F /132°C vacuum-assisted steam cycles consist of a Geobacillus stearothermophilus spore strip; sealed glass ampule with growth medium and a bromocresol purple pH indicator system; brown color-coded cap with holes for sterilant penetration and a hydrophobic filter as a bacterial barrier, and a chemical indicator on the label that changes from rose to brown when processed. After sterilization, the vial is "crushed" to join the growth media with the processed spore strip. The BI is incubated for 48 hours for a visual change readout. A color change to yellow indicates surviving spores and a positive result.

3M™ Attest™ 1276 or 1276F Steam Pack

A pre-assembled, disposable test pack with an Attest 1262 BI positioned in a small package of porous substrate wrapped with a moisture impervious CSR wrap. A record keeping sheet with chemical indicator bar and space for recording load information and biological indicator results is included inside the pack at the point of placement of the BI. The pack is specifically designed to present a resistant challenge to the steam sterilization process as does the AAMI 16 towel pack. This pack is used to monitor 250°F/121°C gravity and 270°F/132°C vacuum-assisted cycles.

3M™ Attest™ Steam-Plus Test Pack

A test pack for monitoring the steam sterilization process. Each test pack includes a 3M™ Attest™ 1262 Biological Indicator and a 3M™ Comply™ (SteriGage™) Steam Integrator.
