US News and World Report Publishes Clarification

US News and World Report published an article in its August 9, 2004 issue, "Secrets Behind the Mask", which grossly misrepresented 3M, the 8710 respirator.  3M immediately began a dialogue with the magazine and provided them information showing the inaccuracies of the article.  As a result, a clarification of the story has been published in the September 20th issue. In the full page Clarification, the editors acknowledge "several significant shortcomings and inaccuracies" in the article, agree that the article's sub-headline "was insupportable and unfair," and express their "deep regret" for failing to meet the magazine's "high standards of journalistic fairness and balance."
