3M at AHIMA 2012
This year the AHIMA 2012 conference is the “Next Stop to Health Innovation,” and 3M Health Information Systems will be right there with you in Chicago this fall. With health reform and ICD-10 changing the landscape, innovation has become an essential healthcare industry “survival skill.”
Luckily, innovation and client collaboration are in 3M’s DNA. That’s why 3M reached out to healthcare leaders as we developed the 3M™ 360 Encompass™ System, which connects and automates both coding and documentation improvement—two critical factors related to ICD-10 and performance-based reimbursement. We also think physicians will appreciate the new 3M™ M.D.Assist Software, because it combines 3M expertise in coding and documentation with Nuance’s natural language processing technology to help relieve the burden of complex payer and regulatory documentation standards.
For a health innovation stop you definitely don’t want to miss, visit 3M at Booth 1000 to check out all of our next-generation healthcare solutions.

From a Poster Collector
I have been collecting the 3M posters for approximately 15 years. The posters hang in my office at the hospital. The artwork is lovely and colorful, as well as being great reminders of the AHIMA conventions and places I have been able to visit. The posters are good conversation pieces. With each city visited, there is a story to be told. Visitors often sit and choose which poster they like best.
I have quite a large office and joke with my staff that I will retire when the office is full of 3M AHIMA posters. I do have quite a way to go to reach that goal!

About the Artist, Randy Royter
My first AHIMA poster for 3M was created for Miami in 2001. My inspiration comes from the host city itself, what makes it special and unique. I look for visual icons that most people would recognize and some that would be a surprise. I try to include the state flower. At the end of the day, I am trying to make the poster fun to look at as well as conjure up memories of that host city and the AHIMA conference.
I love creating these posters. It’s kind of like going on vacation. I learn a lot about the host city that I didn't know. Last year was especially fun because it was my hometown, Salt Lake City. This year I have learned so much about Chicago. I would love to spend some time there. I do believe Chicago has one of the most beautiful skylines of any host city we have done.
