The 3M Health Data Management System (HDM) combines separate software modules into a complete system for collecting, processing and reporting clinical and financial information. The integrated system allows HIM professionals to capture inpatient and outpatient data, process it and produce reports customized to an organization’s workflow and care practices.

The 3M HDM System supports concurrent and retrospective activities, such as documentation reviews and coding audits. The separate modules include:

• 3M™ Health Record Management (HRM) Software – provides a comprehensive data management tool for collecting and reporting on all coded, interfaced, abstracted, special study, and reimbursement data
• 3M™ Audit Expert Software (HRM version)— Identifies compliance issues by reviewing 100 percent of inpatient records at the point of coding
• 3M™ Ambulatory Revenue Management Software (ARMS)—provides OCE, NCCI, LCD and NCD edits for all codes on the claim and allows coders to view both hardcoded chargemaster codes, corresponding charge department codes, revenue codes, units, and other key data elements together with the soft-coded HCPCS/CPT® codes assigned in the HIM department
• 3M™ Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) System – supports ongoing clinical documentation improvement, including concurrent chart reviews
