3M™ Grouper Plus Content Services and 3M™ Grouper Plus System

Integration: The fastest way to market

With expert grouping content from 3M, you can provide your end users—care providers, payers, fiscal intermediaries, and state and federal agencies—reliable, high-speed processing of coded patient data. Users can choose the classification and reimbursement methodologies they need to accurately group, edit and calculate the expected reimbursement of individual claims.

3M offers a broad range of classification methodologies, including CMS DRGs, TRICARE, Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APCs) and 3M proprietary groupers such as 3M™ All Patient Refined DRGs (APR DRGs) and 3M™ Enhanced Ambulatory Patient Groups (EAPGs). We also offer reimbursement content for more than 50 states and payers, outpatient medical necessity content, “preventables” software and risk-adjustment methodologies for population health. With so many options to license, you can easily meet your customer’s inpatient and outpatient processing needs. (For a complete list of available classification methodologies and reimbursements, see the data sheets linked in the Library, below.)

3M delivers this expert content through two platforms:

  • 3M™ Grouper Plus Content Services (GPCS)
  • 3M™ Grouper Plus System (GPS)

Real-time content in the cloud

The 3M Grouper Plus Content Services (GPCS) means convenience for 3M business partners and their customers. With data in the cloud, 3M experts can quickly make regulatory changes so you don’t have to. A standard interface call over the web allows users access to current content in real-time.

The result is a win-win: As a 3M business partner, you get the up-to-date regulatory data and logic you need, maintained and supported by 3M Health Information Systems and our 30+ years of experience and expertise in editing, grouping, and reimbursement methodologies.

This distribution approach means:

  • Immediate access to available content with its various prospective payment methodologies, including multiple versions of groupers and code sets
  • No workflow interruptions or interface changes when new content is received
  • Reduced IT maintenance, no local installation, and ease of implementation using industry-standard, SOAP-based web services
  • Ability to perform large batch or real-time data processing

Seamless delivery within your software

The 3M Grouper Plus System is a Java™-based, platform-independent solution that can be integrated into another vendor’s software application. It relies on common application program interface (API) methods to pass and retrieve data across all Java archive (JAR) components for grouping, editing and reimbursement calculation.

Features and benefits

Trust and brand recognition

For decades, 3M Health Information Systems has developed and maintained market-leading coding, classification, grouping, editing, and reimbursement calculation content for inpatient, outpatient, and physician payment environments. Business partners can offer this same high level of trust and value by integrating 3M content into their applications.

Value added

For software vendors, 3M grouper content is a better alternative to in-house development and third-party stand-alone software. Integrating expert content and functionality from 3M saves development costs, reduces time to market and leverages decades of customer trust in 3M.
