Relay Rules
Relay teams are composed of two runners only.
First leg is 6.4 miles.
First-leg runners will be timed according to gun time for the relay split time.
Second leg is 6.7 miles.
Second-leg runners will be timed according to chip time.
Teams may enter any one of the following divisions:
In all divisions‚ each team member must individually sign the entry form to qualify.
Youth (18 and under)
Masters (40 and over)
Open
Family
Teams may be all-male‚ all-female‚ or co-ed.
See Dry Clothes Transport, below, for recommendations regarding relay participants' clothes transport.
Medical Information
Complete the “Important Medical Information” on the back of your race bib as soon as you receive your packet.
Medical facilities are located at the start and finish lines. In addition‚ medical volunteers are accessible along the race course from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A fully staffed medical tent is located at the finish line area and is equipped to handle medical problems that may arise.
If you cannot complete the course‚ get to a waterstop/aid station or wait for the sag wagon.
Start Time
Start time for the Wheelchair Division is 6:55 a.m.
All other divisions start at 7 a.m. sharp. Please self-seed at the starting line by 6:45 a.m.
Chip Timing
Timing for the 2009 3M Half Marathon & Relay is provided by RunFAR Racing Services‚ using a bar-coded strip attached to the race bib. Your personal ChampionChip will not be required. Please arrive early enough to anticipate traffic‚ your pre-race needs. For more information see this website.
Dry Clothes Transport
Dry clothing bag transport from starting line at Baby Acapulco’s to the finish line area is available.
Instructions:
Bag any items you would like transported to the finish line. Attach the equipment claim stub from your race bib to your bag.
Give your bag to a volunteer at the equipment transport truck located near the registration tent in the Baby Acapulco’s parking lot by 6:45 a.m.
Claim your checked equipment bag at the finish line. You’ll need your race bib for verification.
Special Instructions for relay participants:
We do not provide clothing bag transport to and from the relay exchange point. However, we recommend the following, if you have clothing to transport.
- Second-leg runner collect extra clothes from first-leg runner and board the bus from the start line to the relay exchange point. At 6:25 a.m. a bus will transport the second-leg runners from the starting area along York Boulevard to the relay exchange point (the U.S. Post Office on Northcross Drive.). The last bus leaves the start line at 6:40 a.m.
- At the relay exchange point, second-leg runners leave clothing bag in parking lot for first-leg runners.
- After exchange, first-leg runners collect extra clothes left by second-leg runner and board the bus to the finish line.
