Volunteer Information
The 3M Half Marathon & Relay depends upon the efforts of hundreds of volunteers. Here are some ways that you can help with the 2012 event‚ which benefits Communities In Schools of Central Texas.

Pre-Race Day
Packet Pickup – Distribute race packets to runners. Packet pickup takes place on the Friday and Saturday prior to the race.
Finish Line Area Setup – Assist with the construction of the finish line area on the Saturday prior to race day.
Start Line
Start Line Area Setup & Breakdown – Assist with the final setup of the start line area. Then‚ help break down the start line area after the last runner leaves the chute.
Runners’ Clothing Drop Off – Check in runners’ personal belongings before the race for transport to finish line area.
Bus Transportation – Direct runners and spectators to shuttle buses. Volunteers are needed at the start line and finish line areas. Does not require driving.
Course
Water Stations – Hand out water to runners throughout the course. (Available to groups.)
Course Marshalls – Monitor designated areas along the race course‚ ensure runners stay on course‚ and keep the course clear of pedestrians‚ spectators‚ cars‚ etc.
Emergency Communications/HAM Radio – Work with medical volunteers and security personnel to relay all emergency communications that may occur during race. HAM Radio volunteers must have a valid Amateur Radio License and provide their own handheld radio capable of operating on the 2-meter FM VHF amateur radio band.
Finish Line
Finishers’ Medals – Distribute finishers’ medals in the finish line area.
Runners’ Clothing Return – Return runners’ checked personal belongings after the race.
Post Race Breakdown & Cleanup – Assist in the breakdown and cleanup of the finish line area after the completion of the race and festivities.
