3M Announces “Signs of Success”
3M announced its new “Signs of Success” Contest at the International Sign Association (ISA) Expo in Orlando.
“Signs of Success” gives sign manufacturers the opportunity to partner with business owners to showcase installed electrically backlit signs. Contest participants will compete for cash prizes. One winning entry will be selected.
Entries will be judged on design elements as well as the degree to which signs have helped owners promote their businesses. According to Sean Syring‚ marketing manager‚ 3M Graphic Markets Center‚ “Signs of Success” is unique among sign contests.
“Like many competitions‚ entries will be judged based on design. But this contest also gives businesss owners the opportunity to share stories of their successes by describing the impact the signage is having on their businesses.”
Participants will be required to include a description of how the sign is or is expected positively to affect the owner’s business as well as the benefits gained from using 3M products.
Signs entered for consideration must incorporate 3M products. Eligible products include:
- 3M™ Scotchcal™ Translucent Graphic Film
- 3M™ Dual-Color Film
- 3M™ Light Enhancement Film
- 3M™ Diffuser Film
- 3M™ Day/Night Film
- 3M™ Panaflex™ Flexible Substrate
- 3M™ Panagraphics™ III Wide-Width Flexible Substrate
The winning entry will be selected from 25 finalists. Initial judging of the design will be done by a panel of judges from the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD). The business component will be judged by a panel appointed from members of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
The sign manufacturer and business owner who submit the winning entry will each receive $5‚000. Finalists’ entries will be showcased at the 3M Booth during SGIA ‘08 in Atlanta and the winner will be announced on October 16.
