Bringing A New Standard of Quality to Firestopping Installation
Firestopping is a complicated and very serious business. That's because it is "systems" that are installed, not "products". Currently there are over 3,000 tested systems, from over sixty manufacturers listed with third party testing agencies, like Underwriters Laboratories, Factory Mutual, Warnock-Hersey, Omega Point Laboratories and Southwest Research Laboratories. The problem is, there are currently no state licensing programs for "firestopping" installation. Anyone can do it! And with so many different products and systems to choose from, the potential for confusion, misapplication, and the associated risks is a very real concern.
That's why 3M designed the "Certified 3M - Trained Master Contractor" program. A program backed by 3M quality, innovation and experience!

Beyond The Role Of "Supplier"
3M is a $16 Billion world-wide Fortune 500 company that has been in business for 100 years, and whose reputation is that of innovation, quality, and ethical business practices.
3M has been at the forefront of innovative fire protection products, systems, education, and training. Over the past 15 years, 3M has trained well over 2,000 construction professionals at its fire test center in St. Paul, Minnesota. 3M has long believed that all life safety products have a moral and ethical responsibility to go beyond the role of supplier to that of proactive teacher and trainer. This belief is the foundation of our "Master Contractor" program, an industry-first program that not only provides training, but tracks training compliance over time.
A Standard of Quality
The designation "Certified 3M - Trained Master Contractor", says a lot about a contractor. It is a standard of quality, identifying the most highly trained professionals in firestopping installations. It is a sign of confidence in a properly and full trained professional – with the experience, resources, training and commitment to get the job done right. |
