3M™ Nextel™ Ceramic Fibers

3M™ Nextel™ Structural Ceramic Fibers

3M™ Nextel 610 Structural Ceramic Fibers have the high strength and electrical properties of fiberglass, but five times the stiffness. Nextel 610 structural fibers are aluminum oxide, therefore when used in polymer composites they are non-conductive and electromagnetically transparent.

  • Electrically non-conductive
  • Electromagnetically transparent
  • CTE similar to titanium
  • Thermal conductivity higher than glass.

3M™ Nextel™ High Temperature Ceramic Textiles

A family of continuous metal oxide fibers available in a variety of textile forms designed to withstand extreme high temperature operating environments.

3M™ Nextel™ Textiles are typically used in high temperature applications above 950°C

Benefits

  • Remains flexible with low shrinkage at temperatures up to 1200°C
  • High electrical resistance Low moisture absorption
  • No residual acids or chlorides to leach out.

Typical Applications

  • Aircraft firewalls
  • Tube seals, thermocouples, horse-tail curtains, furnace curtains, heat shields, ladle covers, resistance wire supports
  • Conveyor belts, expansion joints, furnace linings, zone dividers, seals and gaskets.
