3M™ Performance Coatings

Tough, durable, protection in challenging environments

3M™ Performance Coatings are two-component liquid polyurea formulations that are applied by spraying or brushing and dry to form a tough, pliable foam skin. These durable and abrasion resistant foams are used to provide thermal insulation, flame retardancy and corrosion protection in a variety of transportation, industrial and military applications.

Minor punctures and cuts in the dried foam skin are typically "self-healing;" however, should catastrophic abrasion (i.e. piercing) occur, repairs can be made by pouring or injecting liquid 3M Performance Coating material into the damaged area. This makes it easier to make field repairs in areas that are difficult to access.

Products

3M™ Performance Coating 2100
A polyurea-based syntactic foam, with all foam cells encased in microscopic glass walls. This product has been shown to have very low water absorption and is expected to exhibit good resistance to chemical and other contaminants.

3M™ Performance Coating 2300
A highly-flexible polyurea-based composition offering excellent resistance to abrasion, impact and wear, while retaining sufficient flexibility to allow it to bend and flex when applied over flexible substrates.
