Sorbent Information for SDB-XC

SDB-XC is a poly(styrenedivinylbenzene) copolymer used as a reversed phase sorbent for solid phase extraction. SDB-XC is not bonded to silica but is a 100% copolymeric particle that is spherical, porous and cross-linked. It does not exhibit the secondary cationic (silanol) interactions and pH limitations common to bonded silica sorbents, so it offers more predictable and reproducible reversed phase interaction.

SDB-XC may be substituted into methods that use C18 or C8 bonded silica and often demonstrates greater capacity. The structure of SDB-XC provides unique selectivity, especially in the retention of moderately polar, water-soluble analytes. However, since SDB-XC displays both aromatic and aliphatic interactions and does not display secondary cationic attraction, some existing methods may require adjustment to optimize analyte retention and elution.

Empore™ SDB-XC Extraction Disk Cartridges

These products contain small, densely packed particles. Proper use requires higher vacuum or pressure than with other SPE products. When used with a vacuum manifold, typically >15 in Hg (0.51 bar) is needed to pass solutions through the disk cartridge.
