Cynthiana, Kentucky, is the county seat of Harrison County and is approximately 30 miles north of Lexington, Kentucky and 60 miles south of Cincinnati, Ohio. According to the 2000 census, the city's population is 6,258. Cynthiana was the hometown of jazz drummer and bandleader William McKenney and former University of Kentucky Men's Basketball Coach, Joe B. Hall. Cynthiana has several factories which manufacture everything from hard hats to garbage trucks. The most well-known of these companies is 3M, the maker of Post-it® Notes. Cynthiana industries employ many valued employees from surrounding cities, as well.
