Cumberland Life
Cumberland’s geographic location provides easy access to major metropolitan
life in a very rural setting. Major industries here include manufacturing,
farming, and many resorts that attract significant tourism.
While many businesses, restaurants, and two local theaters are available in
the Cumberland area, Rice Lake resides 14 miles to the East and provides
additional amenities including national food chains and major department
stores.
The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are located 90 miles to the
southwest and provide easy access to a more diverse culinary experience,
major league sports venues, and the arts.
Education is available locally as UW Barron County, a branch of the
Wisconsin University system, and the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical Institute
are located in Rice Lake. Cumberland has a local hospital and Rice Lake has a
medical clinic, hospital, and surgery center.
The area provides ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and other
recreational activities. Our employees enjoy cross country skiing,
snowmobiling, curling, volleyball, hunting and fishing, sporting clays, hiking
on the Ice Age trail, biking, and numerous other outdoor activities.
Area lakes are renowned for excellent fishing and local public forests
support excellent grouse, turkey, and deer hunting.
