3M Matrix Resins for Pultruded Epoxy Composites
Taking the PULL out of pultrusion
3M brings its game-changing nano-enhanced resin
technology
to Pultrusion with the launch of 3M's family of Pultrusion resins. In
addition to improving mechanical performance properties, 3M's Pultrusion
Resins remarkably reduce Pull Force during processing, enabling pultruders
to either increase fiber volume or increase line speeds. Now you can
create pultruded products that were impossible to make with ordinary resins
and explore entirely new market opportunities.
| Resin Name | 3M™ Matrix Resin 5831 | 3M™ Matrix Resin 5832 |
| Resin Type | Advanced Formulated Epoxy | Advanced Formulated Epoxy |
| Capability | Performance improvement and pull force reduction | Additive for pull force reduction |
| Applications | Rods, tubes | Rods, tubes |
Proven performance on almost every composite measure
Composites made with 3M™ Matrix Resin 5831 can withstand 15% more shear stress at equivalent fiber volume.
Get 11% more flex before breaking with composites made with 3M™ Matrix Resin 5831.
3M Matrix Resins can significantly reduce the pull force required for pultruded composites, allowing you to increase the fiber volume of the part or increase the line speed to improve product throughput.
Improving your process
The same advanced properties of 3M™ Matrix Resins that improve composite
performance can also help make pultrusion processing easier, reducing the
pull force in pultrusion processes by more than 60%. This means higher line
speeds, greater carbon fiber volume with less downtime, greater productivity
and easier restarts. 3M™ Matrix Resins 5831 and 5832 take some of the
pull out of the pultrusion process!
