3M Recruits, Supports and Recognizes Our Volunteers

3M employee and alumni volunteers use their time and talents to create positive change in their communities. Thousands participate through 3Mgives Volunteer Programs, emphasizing education and community partnerships, with several programs created by employees over 35 years ago.

Volunteer Match Volunteer Match
The 3Mgives Volunteer Match donates funds to organizations where 3M employees or retirees volunteer. 3Mgives has donated over $5.6 million in the names of over 25,000 volunteers to 3,000 organizations in 50 states.


Pro Bono Service
3M Legal Affairs strongly supports pro bono service as a unique community service opportunity for legal professionals. By leveraging skills and experience, 3M Legal Affairs is helping to strengthen both the community and the justice system. View 2014 report

3M Global Volunteer Day

Around the world on September 21, 2015, 3Mers will come together to improve lives as part of our annual Global Volunteer Day. In 2014, globally, there were more than 8,000 volunteers, who devoted more than 28,000 hours and impacted more than 300,000 lives.

In St. Paul teams of 3Mers packed 2800 healthy snack packs for five local agencies that serve homeless youth. The company's Women Leadership Forum sponsored a careers luncheon for 150 eighth grade young women from Battle Creek Middle School.

3Mers in Brazil, Italy and Singapore participated in STEM learning activities with local students. In Spain, students learned about innovation from 3M scientists. Australia put together supplies for homeless youth and the UK team built and outdoor learning center. View the Global Volunteer Day video [2 min.]
