3M employee and retiree volunteers use their time and talents to create positive change in their communities. Thousands participate through 3M Volunteer Programs, emphasizing education and community partnerships, with several programs created by employees over 35 years ago.

Volunteer Award The 3M Community Volunteer Award annually recognizes 25 volunteers who make exceptional contributions by serving their communities.

Volunteer Match The 3M Volunteer Match donates funds to organizations where 3M employees or retirees volunteer. The 3M Foundation has donated over $4.1 million in the names of over 19,000 volunteers to more than 2,700 organizations in 50 states.

Highlights

3M/Saint Paul Public Schools Partnership
Nearly 1,100 3M employee and retiree volunteers mentor, tutor, judge science fair presentations, or make career presentations as part of the 3M Saint Paul Public Schools Partnership.  The goal is to help students succeed and transition from elementary, middle and high school.  3M retired lab manager, Dick Streeper, is in his tenth year as the partnership coordinator. U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award
3M was honored with a Silver U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award for providing more than 10,000 volunteer hours to Junior Achievement. At the March 5 celebration in New York City, Jack Kosakowski, president and CEO of Junior Achievement USA, and Larry Leva, global vice chairman of Quality and Risk Management for KPMG International and chairman of the Junior Achievement USA Board of Directors, presented 3M with the award. They noted 3M's 64 years of Junior Achievement leadership and the countless hours of dedicated work from 3M employees who have significantly impacted the future leaders of business and our communities.

3M Community Giving Earns National Mentoring Honor
The Excellence in Mentoring in America Award for Corporate Leadership, awarded by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, was presented in Washington D.C. on Jan. 23. 3M is the first corporation to receive this award due to our long-time commitment to advancing the success of young people through quality mentoring relationships.
