3M 1000 Hour Community Challenge
Senior managers from 3M sites throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland came together for a day’s hard labour to help with community projects in Bracknell, United Kingdom. It was the start of the company’s 1,000 hours community challenge to be completed by senior managers during 2014.
They split into four teams with one spending the day at Garth Hill College, where they worked on preparing the ground for the college’s garden project. Among their tasks was building a polytunnel, erecting a shed and moving several tons of topsoil. Other teams were out preparing a wildflower meadow at Jealotts Hill Community Landshare in Bracknell; sanding, painting and varnishing outdoor benches and tables for the Ravenswood Village centre for people with learning disabilities at Crowthorne; and repairing pathways at Snelsmore Common Country Park in Newbury.
A video of the day can be seen at Youtube.
3M Indianapolis employees built panels for Habitat for Humanity in their facility's parking lot. Heavy rains did not dampen the spirits or the team's determination to help build the home for a family.
