Frequently Asked Questions
Community Giving Frequently Asked Questions 3M U.S.
3M invited my organization to apply for a grant. How do I apply?
Please refer to the instructions in the e-mail invitation you received.
Does my organization qualify for a grant?
Please review “Giving Areas”
and “Eligibility Guidelines”
to learn about our funding emphasis and requirements. Most grants are by-invitation-only. If you think you meet the guidelines, you’re welcome to take the prescreening assessment. Completing the assessment does not guarantee a grant.
Can I send a letter of inquiry via mail or e-mail?
We require all applications through our online system. Please visit the “Eligibility Guidelines” page.
How do I verify a matching gift?
Go to “Nonprofits” page, and click on the type of match you are verifying. You’ll be redirected to 3M’s software provider. For an overview of 3M’s matching programs, visit the “Employee/Retiree” page.
How do I request a matching gift?
Visit the “Employees/Retirees” page to learn which matches are currently available. You’ll also find the link to login to register your donation of time or dollars.
What resources does 3M offer for students or teachers?
Check out the Science Plus section of the web site, under Giving Areas. Students will find connections to Sparticl, a site with all the best science information in one place! Teachers will learn how to request a 3M science presentation; participate in a summer internship; or connect with “Newton’s Apple” materials.
