Oklahoma Tornado

We are all greatly saddened by the devastating tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma. The Red Cross is able to respond quickly when emergencies like this happen with the help of corporations like 3M who are members of the organization’s Annual Disaster Giving and Disaster Responder programs. Immediate needs center on rescue operations, so we are just beginning to hear from our nonprofit partners regarding product needs. As needs are identified, we will collaborate with 3M divisions to provide products.

Those who would like to help people affected by disasters like tornadoes, floods and other crises can make a donation to American Red Cross Disaster Relief. People can donate by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. We are not anticipating a 3M match at this time, but save receipt information to verify your gift in case of a change.

Duct Tape, Oceans, Creativity, Sustainability

This sums up the 2013 Destination Imagination Global Challenges in Knoxville, Tenn., May 20–25, 2013. Teams from around the world demonstrate their creative approaches to solving team challenges at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. 3M welcome bags will greet them at registration, and then teams head off to the 3M Duct Tape Play Ground, Explore the Uncharted Oceans link to 30 second trailer and the Duct Tape Ball. 3M Earns Top National Honor From United Way

Today, United Way Worldwide presented 3M with the 2013 Spirit of America award in recognition of our long-standing commitment to supporting our communities. This prestigious award not only recognizes our support of United Way; it also recognizes the company’s overall community engagement, including the volunteer efforts of our employees and retirees. 3M also received the Spirit of America in 2005 and is one of only four companies to receive this top honor twice.
