What types of 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Cushion Matting products are available?
Products include 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Cushion Matting:
5100 – Open, Z-web mat; flow-through construction for wet or dry work areas; Excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals, greases and detergents found in industrial or food service environments.
5250 – Open, coiled-web mat; flow-through construction for wet or dry work areas; Excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals, greases and detergents found in industrial environments.
5270 – Textured, solid-top mat with vinyl coiled-web base for dry work areas; Excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals, greases and detergents found in industrial environments.
What information is needed to select the right fatigue-resistant mat?
The mat selected will depend upon the environment.
- Is it a wet are or a dry area?
- If it is a wet area, what chemicals are present?
- Is debris present or not?
- Do you want to keep debris on top of the mat?
- How large are the debris particles?
- How will the mat be cleaned?

Can 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Cushion Mats be seamed?
Yes, all mats can be seamed except 3M™ Safety-Walk™ Cusion Matting 5100. For specific seaming questions or instructions, refer to the product’s Technical Data/Product Specifications Sheet.
What profile edging is used with Safety-Walk matting products?
High profile edging.
What is beveled edging?
Beveled edging is a glued-on edging. It’s designed to match the thickness of 3M matting. Tapered vinyl strips provide continuity from the floor to the mat and make it easier for cart movement and other wheeled traffic.
What is nosing and/or integral edging?
Nosing and/or integral edging is produced by the squeezing down of the mat to create an edge.
Is nosed edging available on Safety-Walk matting 5100?
No.
What are the standard colors for Safety-Walk mats?
Black is the standard color. Safety-Walk matting 5100 is available in Black (Ebony) and Quarry Tile Red. Custom colors and pricing are available upon request.

Which mats replaced 3M™ Nomad™ Extra Duty Backed and Unbacked Matting?
For entrance matting, the alternate products are 3M™ Nomad™ Scraper Matting 8100 or 8150.
