Supply Chain

3M Supply Chain provides logistics leadership, customer service, Lean manufacturing analysis/support and network design to optimize our supply flow. Our organization manages the logistics from supplier input materials through manufacturing/distribution and ultimately to the customer. Our responsibilities include managing distribution operations, warehousing, planning, materials management, operations management and transportation operations on a global basis. Supply Chain positions exist at factory, division, business unit and corporate levels. Careers in Supply Chain are built on the functional and leadership knowledge of the individual. Careers are not limited to Supply Chain only, but can also extend into Information Technology, Finance, Sourcing and Lean Six Sigma.

Supply Chain career opportunities are available in many areas:

  • Factory Operations: Procurement, Inventory Control or Materials Management

Optimized Operations (O2)

This is a program for new employees who are qualified candidates and have graduated from a college or university within the past five years. O2 is a one-year project-based engineering and supply chain training program within 3M U.S. manufacturing plants. The development year, along with six weeks of training and strong support from the host plant site, provides the O2 employee with the skills to accomplish their projects successfully and accelerate their 3M career.

Education

Undergraduate or graduate degrees in Operations Management, Supply Chain Operations or Operations Research. Also often requires basic skills knowledge through the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS). We also consider business or related graduates who include a focus in these disciplines and often some additional development work. We encourage plant experience for all our Supply Chain professionals.

All Positions

  • Assignments based in small towns to large metropolitan areas and 3M global sites.
  • Candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. The interviewers will be looking for leadership qualities necessary for developing project assignments, guiding other employees and completing independent assignments.
