Your 3M compensation recognizes the meaningful contributions you make to business results. Your pay has two components: base salary and variable pay. Variable pay may include sales commissions, profit sharing and annual incentive or other incentives. You may also qualify for merit increases or promotions based on performance.
Profit Sharing
Beginning in 2008, profit sharing will be replaced with an annual incentive plan. This new plan will link a portion of your pay to three performance metrics: organic growth versus plan; operating income growth versus plan; and year-over-year improvement in economic profit. Payments will be made to employees annually.
Management Stock Ownership Program
Based on your job level, you may be eligible to participate in the Management Stock Ownership Program. Stock options and restricted stock units grants encourage management employees to increase their 3M stock ownership and align their financial interests with those of other 3M stockholders.
Sales Incentives
Each sales representative's pay includes a monthly base pay and sales incentives, paid monthly or quarterly, depending on the business you represent.
