Adhesion Promoter Selection Guide

The purpose of this chart is to provide a starting point for the selection of an appropriate adhesion promoter. Since plastics may vary in composition, even within a classification, it is important that all new applications or substrate variations/changes be tested prior to using a specific adhesion promoter. These recommendations have been established through laboratory and field testing, but may not exactly duplicate your application or substrate material. Please contact your 3M Automotive Division representative for further information.

Notes:

1. 4298 and 4298UV are not available in California due to AQMD regulations.
2. 4298 is available as a 2.5cc sponge applicator packet.
3. 4298UV contains a UV dye visible under black light. 4298UV is available in various packages, from 4-oz. bottles through gallon cans.
4. When using Lord ChemLok 459X with EPDM or Santoprene, the primed substrate must be warmed prior to tape application in accordance with directions and precautions supplied with the ChemLok 459X.
