3M™ Polyurethane Protective Tapes and Boots

Impact Protection
By applying 3M Polyurethane Protective Tapes and Boots, your structure is well-protected. Apply the tape to the radomes, aircraft belly, flight control panels, landing gear and antennas to provide an excellent barrier to foreign object damage (FOD) and abrasion.

3M Tape 8641 is a 41 mil product designed to protect structures from damage caused by FOD.

Erosion Protection
3M Polyurethane Protective Tapes and Boots have been demonstrated to prevent erosion caused by rain, sand and FOD, reducing maintenance costs. 3M Polyurethane Protective Tapes are designed for protecting the leading edges of the aircraft.

Corrosion Prevention
3M Polyurethane Protective Tapes create a barrier to prevent liquids from causing corrosion in areas such as lavatories and galleys. 3M tape used in these areas provides superior performance over alternative materials and techniques, including vinyl tapes, polyester films and other sealing materials.

3M Tapes and Boots are designed to be strong and durable, which allows them to be easily handled without tearing. The tapes do not contain hazardous chemicals or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it safe during installation and for the environment. No special tools or equipment are needed. The aircraft is ready to fly within 60 minutes of application, and a full bond occurs within 24 hours.

3M Polyurethane Protective Boots provide excellent impact protection for your aircraft, from radomes to navigation light lenses. 3M has more than 500 boots sizes for general aviation, military transport, cargo planes and commercial aircraft. Boots can be created to fit your specific needs.
