Scotch® High Performance Masking Tape 213 is a very high-temperature resistant tape for use in masking and holding applications where temperatures reach 350°F/177°C for 30 minutes. This tape is the most transfer resistant of all Scotch® paper tapes, as the firm adhesive does not anchor itself as softer adhesives often do.
Highly cured rubber adhesive for excellent high-temperature holding and adhesive transfer resistance minimizes edge lifting and reduces rework and labor
Specially treated crepe paper backing is sliver resistant and easy to tear by hand
Solvent and moisture resistant to help reduce waste and labor
Special backsize treatment with controlled unwind for easy use that helps reduce waste
Can withstand temperatures up to 350°F/177°C for 30 minutes, making it ideal for bake cycles at high temperatures
Can withstand temperatures up
to 350°F/177°C for 30 minutes
Our Scotch® High Performance Masking Tape 213 features a highly cured, pressure sensitive, rubber adhesive for excellent high-temperature holding. Adhesive transfer resistance minimizes edge lifting to help reduce rework and labor. The specially treated crepe paper backing is sliver resistant and conformable with special backsize treatment for controlled unwind and ease of use. The backing is solvent and moisture resistance.
Because this tape can withstand high temperatures (up to 30 minutes at 350°F/177°C) it is ideal for use in masking and holding paint bake applications. It bonds well to high energy surfaces such as anodized aluminum. When finished this tape removes cleanly and is extremely transfer resistant. It can be certified to ASTM D 6123: D 6123M-97.
Masking aluminum anodized surfaces
Masking or holding applications when bake cycles exceed 1 hour at 300°F/149°C
Treated metals such as aluminum
What is Masking Tape?
Scotch® High Performance Masking Tape 213 Masking tape was developed specifically to help protect surrounding surfaces from overspray, provide clean paint lines, and remove easily and cleanly when finished. The backing, typically crepe paper, sticks when applied to curved and irregular surfaces without lifting or curling. Various masking tapes are designed for different applications and should be removed within their specified time range. A very thin or poorly manufactured tape may splinter or shred when coming off the roll or being removed after use.
Industrial masking tapes
Our masking tapes adhere well, resist solvents or water from the paint, and are strong enough to hang plastic sheeting, yet remove cleanly without damaging the subsurface. These products hand tear for tool-free application. Some have sufficient tensile strength for light commercial and industrial applications, making them useful for bundling, labeling, sealing, temporary repairs, lane marking, splicing, and surface protection. The classic crepe paper masking tape is a light tan color, but Scotch® masking tapes come in a variety of other colors and formulations to meet general and specific applications. It should be noted that many crepe paper masking tapes perform best for indoor purposes and may be difficult to remove after exposure to sunlight. Many of these tapes also have a shelf life of 12 months, beyond which, peak performance cannot be assured. A roll of masking tape is a basic toolbox or supply room item in any construction, warehousing, military, marine, shipping, or retail industry.
